Espada has been absolutely awful so far in the few chances he’s had to make a difference while this team pisses down their own pantslegs repeatedly.

Agreed. It’s like he has become a slave to analytics at times and not mixing in feel or what his eyes are telling him.
And that finally puts us out of our misery. Martinez in
Espada certainly didn’t want to rush into anything.
I mean, in Espada’s defense, the only reason Henley is there is because they desperately needed someone to pitch at the last second and didn’t want to have to throw the pen 9 innings.
I understand that, at first. But, when the first five or six guys reach against a rookie making his debut, you have to pull him. You can’t let the Rangers win this game in the first inning.

No doubt, but you still have to have a short leash. If the guy you called up to eat innings is going to give up 5 runs and only get one out, you’re still going to need the fucking bullpen to get 26 outs instead of 27.

The Astros’ offense is going to have to do some vaunting tonight if they want to win this game.

You knew it would be a long night as soon as Framber was scratched.
Which is what happened. The worst situation came true. But pulling him after five hitters doesn’t exactly solve anything either.
So why not use your bullpen to start with and if the game gets out of hand, use the dump bucket to take the beating?
There’s absolutely zero chance anyone in the org thought he was going to do anything useful against the Rangers.
The bigger issue is going to be that the Astros are unlikely to score again. This is still otherwise a winnable game. But we know how this team goes.
There’s a not-insignificant chance that the same thing would have happened if Framber started.
