Astros @ Pale Hose, 8/16/22

Yankees lost again tonight. But guess who’s not losing…

JV had the lead and the ball in the 7th.

I’ll take that every time.

But…

Astros hitters expanded the zone all night.

Bullpen failed to do its job.

Diaz got hurt.

Altuve got picked off 2nd.

On the whole, that sucked.

Yep. 90% of the time you win in that scenario, tonight was not the 90% sucks but you gotta move on.

I don’t get the defeatist attitude some have. Sometimes you lose games, sometimes teams behind you win games, sometimes they even happen on the same day. Sometimes a 12 game lead becomes an 11 game lead. But I don’t get the boogeyman is getting close shits that some get. Frankly it’s tiresome. Panicking after 2 bad losses and fretting about the team behind you is loser mentality. I thought we, as a franchise/fanbase, left that shit in the dust. I think this franchise has earned that confidence. End rant

I am with you on that rant, Doyce. I will add sometimes losses are instructive, and you learn helpful things if you are paying attention.

If.

I don’t get the defeatist attitude. It does get old. But, people constantly complaining about how terrible of a manager they think Dusty is – that never gets old.

Because he is. Good guy, nice man, players like him, good PR face of franchise. Horrible in-game manager.

Ordinarily I would say this reflects poorly on the bench coach advising him. But Dusty’s been this way his whole career - I don’t think it has anything to do with Espada.

With the Houston Astros loss to the Atlanta Braves in the 2021 World Series, Astros manager Dusty Baker - the second-oldest manager in Major League Baseball history to win a pennant at age 72 - remains the winningest manager without a World Series championship in MLB history.Nov 3, 2021

Too harsh, imo.

Siri didn’t attempt a steal when he pinch ran in game 3.

Can’t think of another managerial issue in last year’s WS.

It’s more a counter to support the argument that he was hired to ameliorate the greatest MLB team reputational hit in this century. He was available immediately and that was essential to stop the bleeding.

I’m not panicking. It’s just frustrating to lose back-to-back games where you had a two-run lead both nights in the late innings.

Your posts have become more and more caustic and abrasive and seem to be critical of everything. I may be wrong, but I hope you chill for awhile.

Has there been any elaboration on what happened here? That was bizarre.

Also weird that they looked over to the dugout and seemed to ask for Josh Miller to come out.

I post counterfactuals on internet boards because defending them requires more effort. These are mental exercises, nothing more. I might not have an opinion at all, but positing an idea to determine its validity in a broader context

You are.

If this is all you are doing, I wish you would run your experiment somewhere else.

Counterfactual, eh? Sounds like Trump’s PR person’s “alternate facts.” I guess I’ll need to look up “counterfactual.”

PS hey, Dumbass D. Ward. I am ignoring you. I am sure your witty repartee is brilliant, but I cannot see it.
