I don’t want to be a Hader hater.

Throw fucking strikes, Hader. And get back to being your dominant self, now.

Two down

Winner!

Welcome back JV

That was way too stressful of a ninth inning. Hader needs to get his shit figured out. But a win is a win.

Good to have our stallion back.

I think JV in the clubhouse will only help things. Certainly can’t hurt.

Hader is making me really miss Hector Neris.

It’s nice to have a relatively normal outcome.

It was, actually. The runner’s hand beat the throw to Peña’s shoe, not the bag. We are in DC and will be at tonight’s game but watched the end of this one at a local bar. The Nats feed showed clearly that Peña’s shoe was decisive.

What I want to know is what Espada came out to discuss with the home plate ump after a questionable call in the 9th that led to the ump barking at Espada and then going and having a talk with another umpire. A little delay but the count stayed the same. What was that? The feed was muted.

Only about half of Peña’s shoe was in front of the bag. The runner had 18 inches of base not blocked. He could have slid to the opposite side of the base. He could have done a “swim slide” and pulled back his left hand and touched the base with his right hand. The runner fucked up his slide.

Yes, agreed—as I think Austro was implying.

Astros win! Verlander’s back! 5-3! I’m very excited!

Yeah, closeup replays didn’t show that at all. There was no obstruction by Peña.

As for what Espada and umps were discussing, I don’t know for sure, I wasn’t listening to the sound, but I think it was about charging a mound visit when Diaz stepped out in front of the plate to either say something to Hader or yell out some defensive positioning.

My man.

Someone needed to say it.

Pitchers are seldom vocal leaders but JV seems to be the only candidate on this roster for that role.
