Astros @ Mariners, April 15, 2022

I don’t think there is any question. I think Click thought he was signing a number 3 starter, I’m not sure he’s even a 5.

Edit especially on a team that expects to win

He’s a mop up man, at best. He’s simply not a starter in the big leagues.

Ok…bed time. I fucking hate this season so far.

He’s basically your league average 5th starter, but he’s not making league average 5th starter money.

Click signed him late, due to the uncertainty around Framber’s finger injury (there was speculation he’d miss all/most of the season)

Stupid Whitley, that was your rotation spot.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Framber’s finger injury was last season, no?

Yes

I’m other words, there’s no excuse for him pitching this season.

Yes, and they signed Odorizzi shortly thereafter.

So that’s irrelevant to him pitching now.

They couldn’t trade him and refused to acknowledge the sunk cost.

I get your point.

If Lance or Hunter Brown (or anybody) were ready, he wouldn’t be.

So he’s pitching out of stubbornness, not necessity or promise. That doesn’t make me feel any better.

But Javier should be the #5

Odorizzi is at very best the 6th option for the rotation, 7th once Lance returns.

I can’t believe he isn’t sitting at the end of the bullpen.

The shift is so fucking stupid I can’t believe it.

This is ugly.

The Astros had an 8 run inning in game 2.

Scored 16 runs in the other 60 innings combined.

Yes, Javier should be the fifth starter instead of Odorizzi. That said, the offense is a far bigger problem than the fifth starter in the rotation right now. You aren’t going to beat anyone consistently scoring two runs or less. The Astros’ offense needs to wake up, ASAP.

But Odorizzi is the #2 starter.

I know they ate being careful with the ramp up but this is the team that is the biggest challenger to winning the division

And Verlander is on 5 days rest
Urquidy is on regular 4 days rest

And they chose Odorizzi

Odorizzi may have started the 2nd game but he is not the number 2 starter. The fuck?

It’s April, and we all know it will not be a long-term thing. Once they get a little deeper in the season and Verlander is ready to be fully ramped up, they’ll will get the rotation aligned by skipping Odorizzi’s turn after an off day.

Also, counting the six runs allowed tonight, Astros’ pitching has only allowed 21 runs in 7 games.

I’m sorry, but I put the blame on a talented offense that has scored 12 runs combined in six of their 7 games. They are incredibly fortunate to have a winning record right now.

And Odorizzi has given up 6 of them in 8.1 innings
