Astros @ Dodgers, 6/24/2023

I did not care for the way that the umpires showed up Stanek when the balk was called. The home plate ump seemed to take great pride in emphatically making the call for the Dodgers. I do not blame Stanek for his reaction after the inning ended. Terribly weak call.

However, this team had plenty of chances to win the game. The bullpen simply has to perform better.

Hereā€™s a good breakdown as usual from this channel.

My only quibble is look at it in real time, not slow motion.

Well. The comeback starts with a win today.

Iā€™ll have some of what you are having.

As long as itā€™s not Wild Turkey or the pinkie-finger-sticking-out crowd will get after you

Youā€™ll also note that the game went south just about the minute they started giving me shit about it

I doubt HH belongs in that category.

I immediately changed the channel after the supposed balk. Iā€™m normally strong enough to push throughā€¦but pissing away the lead in that way, against that team, and in their park was just too much for me to bear.

This has been a really tough season and the boys continue to fight and stay in the playoff race. Iā€™m still holding out hope that the adversity will make them stronger and allow them to be the team they need to be when it matters most.

Diaz had been a silver lining to the Yordan injury IMO. If not for the injury he may never have gotten the consistent ABs needed to show what he can do. Listing this as an example of some good that has come out of all the adversity this team has endured.

Trying to stay glass half-full.

I certainly feel better about the catcher position moving forward.

DubĆ³n has been a peach too.

Dubon has developed to the point of being an excellent role player, but weā€™re asking him to be the linchpin of the offense right now.

Agreed but you hope if this team can eventually get back to full strength that he will be exactly what the team needs in the correct role.

Dubon is definitely another example of what I outlined above. France too.

I still have hope that weā€™ll add a SP that under our system will be a difference maker in playoffs for this team. We have the OF depth in the system to get a deal done. Donā€™t know if anyone has noticed but add Zach Daniels to the list of Strong OF prospects. Heā€™s been hitting bombs since his return from surgery.

Amongst others, Altuve needs to get it back together

Would be nice if we could get Altuve/Pena/Tucker/Bregman/Abreu/Chas/Diaz all going at the same time

And Jake and Corey too. Then the Astros would have a shot at the Post Season.

In other words, if we could only get all nine guys in the lineup hitting at the same time, you like our chances?

OK, Chas and Diaz were a bit superfluous because they donā€™t seem to get regular PT (esp Chas), but those first 5 need to be carrying the weight for the Stros to win.

This team has a long, long way to improve before they should consider giving anything up for a player for this year.

Even if said player to be offered is 1) blocked

Or player to be acquired is 2) controlled past this season?

No rentals.

Iā€™d settle for getting the guys who can actually hit in the lineup at one time.
