Ten games over .500 in mid-August. Pretty amazing turnaround.
Pitcher bias incoming: I think a pitcher who does what Hader did tonight should get a win and a save. Hold them tied in the 9th then protect the lead in the 10th. Makes sense to me.
No argument here. Hader has especially been rock-solid for a long time now.
Eight straight! This pitching has been en fuego.
Did they ever report whether or not Blanco’s hand was ok?
Coach Jim,
If you were going to figure out a smart way to do the hidden ball trick (10th inning - 2nd base runner in a tied game)
A. Is it even possible
B. How might you construct it
C. I know they don’t go off often but am curious how might someone pull it off.
D. What kind of player (opponent) would you pick to test it?
any ideas?
I thought his glove deflected it.
Hit both glove and and hand I believe.
ETA: Espada just said X-rays on Blanco’s index finger were negative.
Just now seeing my typo in the subject line. It shall stay that way.
Conference at the mound is all I can think of unless you want to fake a wild pickoff throw. If the infielder takes the ball back to his position, the pitcher cannot be on the rubber (I think). That play was not in my teams’ repertoire.
Big win fellas! Thanks for bringing all these wins in while I navigate my exile. I keep thinking it might be ok but then I’ll post something in the gz and bad things happen.
Keep the cnadle lit!
In addition, Blanco told multiple Astros’ reporters he has a small bruise on his finger, but he expects to make his next start.
And still was moving with velocity when Peña fielded it.
I think they said 106 off the bat.
(Props to Blanco too. He was great. )
Indeed!
I know a lot of you were waiting for the Astros to hit .500. Which yeah, I thought that was impossible not too long ago.
My number has been +10 over .500. They hit that today and will most likely take some time to get comfortably above that if they are so lucky. Big wins and a great run of baseball by the good guys these last weeks.
The test is this next week. They played like absolute dog shit on their last home stand, but have run off eight road wins in a row. They cannot take a step back against the Soxes.
Exactly. We can all recall instances where they’ve come home after good road trips and then given away their gains against lesser lights. They can’t afford that this time. Now is the time to take control.
I like win streaks but they’re often followed by losing streaks.
Once the streak is broken just keep winning 2 of 3.
The Mariners just got beat by agent Hinch again so now we are up 3 games, more importantly, 4 in the loss column.
