So with guys like this, the calls are all getting overturned.
That is not what I’d heard about the ball/strike challenge system. I think what Manfred was talking about was a finite, non-recycling system.
That would be typical Manfred fuckery.

Part of the problem with accountability is the grading system. Umpires aren’t graded by how many they get actually correct, but how many they get within “the margin of error”, which is a complicated formula and exceedingly generous. Theoretically an umpire can get every call wrong and still score 100% in the grading.
