Astros at Orioles, 8/9/23

I didn’t realize last night’s game was also on TBS.

Who was the last catcher to hit leadoff before Rutschman? Jason Kendall?

Several in 2018.

Leadoff bloop triple. Awesome.

Terrible play by Chas.

Big K.

If Chas just runs that down and plays it on the hop he might get Rutschman at 3rd or he might have held him at 2b

I mean on a regular basis. Were any of those guys regular leadoff hitters?

No way he’s on 3B

Is CJ getting squeezed? game day seems so.

There are two strikezones tonight

He’s not gotten the same pitches Flaherty did. I’m not sure it’s squeezed because they are well off the plate. But it’s been a much different zone.

He wasn’t versus Santander.

Kendall owns that record by a wide margin.

Here’s it is by season (10 yr old post)

ETA: Kendall led off 452 times in his career

I guess squeezed isn’t what I was looking for. Not getting the same calls is more accurate.

Attaboy!

Javier strands the runner at 3B

Strong, Javier

Javier recovers nicely after a leadoff triple but he threw a lot of pitches.

Damn…10 pitches to get that fucker.

The important thing: He put up a zero after a leadoff triple.
