Astros at Dodgers, 8/3/21

THAT Stanek has a late inning role in any bullpen. Hope we can get that Stanek more often down the stretch.

Agreed. Stanek’s stuff is not in question. It’s his ability to consistently command it.

It’s gonna be a while before I trust that guy. Tonight was a step in that direction, though.

Man what a game. That was fun… I think. I enjoyed the ending that’s for sure. I also enjoyed Lance and Graveman and Taylor and Stanek bitch slapping the Dodgers all night. Great pitching and just enough offense makes for a good game in my book

See y’all tomorrow night! Gonna be a bit tougher against Scherzer, methinks. And with Odorizzi starting, I hope the bullpen gets plenty of rest tonight…

It really comes down to confidence. The difference between good and great is can sometimes be a simple as, the good guy knows he has the stuff, the great guy KNOWS he has the stuff and attacks

You could actually see that when Betts stepped in to bat. Stank threw two out of the zone and Maldy came out there and talked him in off the ledge.
I think Stank’s problems are 100% between his ears…

Yep. See the at bat with Betts. He went from commanding the zone with ease against McKinney to falling behind 2-0 and not really being close with either pitch. It felt like he was giving Betts too much respect and thought he had to be more perfect with his pitches instead of continuing to do what got him two quick outs.

Because of mlb’s inane blackout rules, I had to watch the game on local cable with the dojers telecast (their announcers aren’t that bad and orel hershiser is pretty good, admittedly), but man, what a struggle.
Living amongst dojer fans now in SoCal reaffirms my lifelong seething, deep, profound disdain and loathing of the dojers and, of course, their self-righteous, arrogant, ignorant and classless fan base (ask any gints fan). The dojers are the Evil Empire/yanks of the west and their fans have as much self-awareness as a dog licking its own butthole in public.

Imho, that was the best win of the season for the good guys.

Let’s hope for a sweep tomorrow, but not holding my breath.

Slurp shit, dojers.

Let’s go Astros.

He doesn’t trust his stuff?

Apparently they were throwing full beers at Astros fans last night. Frankly, I wouldn’t visit that stadium again.

I’m flattered that you’d suggest you ever need me.

Sometimes he does, and you get last night. Dotting up 99 and looking like a top shelf reliever

That might have been Lance’s best outing ever.

From the bullpen last night.

ā€œIt was kind of wild,ā€ said reliever Ryne Stanek, who got the save. ā€œIt was maybe the sixth or seventh inning, things got a little bit hectic in the bullpen. People started throwing stuff at Astros fans and stuff and for a few minutes you basically sat there and watched people throw full beers at people for half an inning. … It was kind of a bonkers atmosphere to play, for sure.ā€

I’ve been saying for a while now that if Stanek could throw strikes consistently, he’s a top-notch closer. Would sure like to see him get there.

They once were my team…in Brooklyn but never were in LA. I am with you today.

STFU with crap thrown at the 26th man.
