Astros at Communists, 9/5/24

Reminder that it’s a nooner today:

2b Altuve
DH Alvarez
C Diaz
3b Bregman
1b Singleton
SS Peña
LF Gamel
CF McCormick
RF Heyward

P Brown

They’re approaching “Dickitie” level

We gotta bring a W home today!

/sees Singleton’s stats since 8/1
//spits out drink

Why not:
Altuve
Pena
Diaz
Alvarez
Bregman
Gamel
Singleton
McCormick
Heyward
?

Altuve hits it 99.6, Alvarez 103, both outs.

A Diaz walk and a Bregman pop up closed it out.

Brown goes:
India 5-3
de la Cruz K on 3 pitches
Stephenson singles to CF
Friedl 4-3

End 1, 0-0

Bagwell discussing how much Brown’s mound presence has improved, and how much the organization had harped on it to him

When Bagwell talks the mechanics of hitting or shares insighful nuggets like this about Brown, he’s a good color commentator. He needs to do more of that.

T2:

Singleton routine fly to CF
Pena seeing eye single through the left side
Pena steals second
Gamel walks
Chas with a routine 6-4-3 to end the threat

For example, with Stephenson at bat, he flinched on the 0-2 pitch, and Bagwell immediately said “when a right handed batter flinches his front shoulder open like that, as a pitcher, you know the whole outside of the plate is open to you.”

Have to jump off PBP

He’s been calling pitches from the booth all series

I’m going to Cincinnati in a couple of weeks, and have tickets to a random Dickities game. I promise the BBGs that if only the Astros win today I’ll seek out and enjoy some delicious Skyline chili. Really.

You’re a braver man than I.

That’s what we call taking one for the team.

These people are malevolently incompetent.

And, they wonder why fans don’t care if umpires lose their jobs to robots. Who gives a damn about an umpire’s feelings or protecting them? The job of instant replay is to get calls right.

What happened for those of us unable to watch? Gameday shows Bregman striking out on a 4-2 count then being ejected.
