Astros at A’s June 1, 2022

Blue giving him inches outside and he leaves a center cut fastball.

Sweep! Nice win today.

How you don’t throw that same slider again is totally beyond me.

A win is great but I’m especially happy that they got JV off the hook for the L. He pitched a great game.

Agreed. In our version of the play, which I took from my season with Gustafson, the runner on 3rd breaks the instant the throw goes to second.

I will make the tiniest suggestion in a whisper: at some point the brain trust may consider Montero a closer.

I could support that

Not suggesting removing Pressly yet. Just do not forget Montero if RP continues to have some struggles. This team has several guys who can close.

Prime example of the variability of relievers from one season to the next – going from a guy who was DFA’d last year to possible closer for a team currently on pace to win 100+ games.

Either that or Jerry Dipoto really, really sucks at his job.

Relievers are extremely volatile, and finding one who has performed as consistently as Pressly is rare

Agreed, but he was a shutdown 8th inning guy before he became the closer by default. Pressly, Montero, Neris, and Stanek all can close, imo.

Only a blind man would not see the potential in Montero’s arm, and he was very good in Houston after the trade until he was injured in a game. I lean toward the incompetence explanation.

Just got home from the game. Two hours in the car felt a hell of a lot better after the top of the ninth.

Congrats! You pulled ‘em through!

Thanks, Coach!! I’m not going to say I’m responsible for the win today. However, and I believe science and the BBG’s bear this out, while we were sitting in our seats, the Astros were winning. When we left to go to the one bar in the stadium that serves beer late, the Astros gave up three runs. So we hustled back for the top of the ninth.

I will say how interesting it is watching a game from the dugout view as opposed to television. Completely different perspective.

Thought the Carmelites at Salpointe taught us to not mess with science?

Mighty jealous you got to go.
Thanks for pulling the good guys through.

Holy Fucking Hell, yikes.

This would do it:
(Courtesy of the A’s Broadcast)
“…15 runs were scored in the 8th & 9th innings during the 1-6 home stand…”
Tx scored 8 runs in 4 games; the 'Stros 7 in three games.
