Astros @ A's, September 26, 2020

I was actually surprised he didn’t call the 0-2 pitch a strike also.

Altuve out 4-3 again.

Very nice pick from Kemp.

So A’s pitcher gets three outs on one strike. Awesome. What time is the flight home, they ask…

Harrison reaches on a TE6.

Did he touch 1B?

Apparently so

Marte pops out to Altuve in shallow RF

The good news is, the A’s and Mariners play each other this week, so at least one will be eliminated. The bad news is, the Astros are counting on someone else doing their work.

Olson takes a few pitches then gets a free pass

You know, I was reflecting on this earlier, the respective merits of Detroit vs Houston sports fandom. The Lions are irredeemable as an organization, obviously. I mean, they are so terrible that they made not one but two generational talents retire early. But I suppose they can always point out that they don’t have a delusional youth minister running their football operations.

But Detroit has the Red Wings, the Pistons and AJ Hinch, so the math sort of seems to favor Detroit if you ask me.

Canha with 2 on, 1 out falls behind 0-2, takes a 59 footer 1-2, F9.

Harrison tags/advances to 3rd.

Brown with runners on the corners, 2 outs, lines out F7

Still 1-0. Too many pitches to get these outs but thus far limited damage.

Brown’s walk up music is Gimme Shelter so props to him for that.

Bregman leads off the 4th, grounds a 3-1 pitch 5-3

Alvarez skies the first pitch he sees to shallow center. F8.

Yuli grounds his first pitch 6-3.

This Jabroni’s ERA is 5 and the Astros don’t have a hit.

Chapman F8 first pitch swinging

Davis gets a full count, fouls, flies out F7

Kemp reaches on a check swing infield hit.

Gomes lines a single to right, Kemp to 3rd

He reached out and poked a splitter off the plate
