Javier on the bump..getting hammered in the second. Rangers with a walk, double, single, double and it’s 3-0

Cristian Javier: still not good.

Some guys don’t come back from injury.

End of two…3-0 Rangers

Javier lucky it’s not 5-0. Thanks for everything you’ve done, Cristian, but you’re done.

Astros down quickly on 8 pitches

3-0 Rangers

Six innings of a WS no-hitter is a way bigger achievement than most major leaguers can claim. Rode it to a handsome contract and set his family up for generations. He’ll always have a place in Astros history. Just not in their future.

He needs to throw strikes.

When he does they get clobbered.

I’m afraid Christian Javier and Lance McCullers are one and the same now. A shame.

Altuve!

Middle of four…3-1 Rangers

Javier out, De Los Santos in

I don’t know why Eschenfelder grates on my nerves, but he does.

I can’t believe Astros hitters lead the league in successful ABS challenges.

I would not have guessed that the Astros are the most successful team in MLB at challenging pitches.

Halfway…3-1 Rangers

That’s by number of successful challenges…I wonder what their percentage us and how it compares. I don’t think there’s any surprise that the Astros have the widest strike zone.

Walk, standup triple and it’s 4-1

They lead the league in:

  • successful overturns
  • overturn percentage (61%; next best is 57%)
  • overturns over expected (28.0; next best is 17.9)

They are second runs gained over expected (3.0; Twins lead with 4.0, next best is Philly with 2.1)
