Astros @ Angels. September 26, 2025. Must win #1

I don’t excuse the offense one bit. But if Framber doesn’t spend the entire second half of the season shitting himself, they’ve clinched the wild card already and are ahead of the Mariners.

I’m not going to read much more here either (at least until later) but want to post that I’m mad at Espada for not managing the 3-0 lead better. It was clear Alexander didn’t have it, again. There were many hard hit balls that happened to get hit right at people and he lucked out. I could handle the Trout solo HR but when Alexander followed that with a walk I’d of got someone in the bullpen warming. Espada didn’t and the double play happened so great. But then heading into the fifth I would’ve had someone ready as soon as that lead off double happened and tried to snuff out that second run right there and then. He needed to manage that game like a playoff game and I think he waited too long to do so. But in his defense, the offense sat on their asses and didn’t add any insurance at all either. All right, I had my rant I guess. Sorry to all for it just couldn’t help myself because I’m just upset about all this. I guess I will focus on the writer of the rest of the weekend, although the US is shitting themselves there as well.

One hit in the final 5 innings. 2025 Astros, in a nutshell.

In other words manage it like a playoff game.

Legit critique.

Absolutely. Worry about tomorrow when tomorrow gets here. Win today. Oh well.

Another point: what ever happened to recognizing the exact point in later innings that should be deemed the actual “save” situation? If Abreu is your de facto closer, maybe bringing him in behind Murray would have been that point with the critical tying run in scoring position? Of course, King and Okert have given no pause coming into these situations previously. BUT once King gave up the game tying hit in the 7th, I definitely wouldn’t have started him for the 8th with Trout (who already hit a solo HR) and the middle of the order up. I bring in Okert or Abreu to get those outs.

Okert had already been used by that point, so it would have had to have been Abreu. So unless you were gonna have Abreu pitch two innings, you’d be looking at Kimbrel for the 9th, I’d rather have King pitch the 8th than Kimbrel the 9th

Ahh, I didn’t see that Okert had come in earlier, I started watching while Murray was pitching and I thought he had relieved Armstrong.
