I call bullshit on that scorecard. Brown threw a couple of pitches almost right down the center square that were called a ball. No way this idiot was that accurate.
“Bullshit” seems to be the prevailing opinion from every Stros fan who watched the game.
That’s a bad scorecard, but he was so much worse than that.
From Kawahara:
Hunter Brown on the hit-by-pitch and exchange with Zach Neto: “Honestly, he almost swung. So I don’t know what he’s talking about. Guy stands right on top of the plate, doesn’t like when he gets hit, that’s his problem.”
Love it
eta: Brown’s comments continued, from mlb.com
" … I gotta command the inside part of the plate. That’s part of my game. If you want to stand with your toes on the chalk, you can’t get that upset when I’m throwing a pitch that you’re almost swinging at. I stand by what I do, and obviously, there was no intent behind it.”
Neto has been hit 36 times in 296 games
That Neto hbp reminded me (although not as ridiculous) of a hbp waaay back against Shawn Green of the Dodgers and I think Shane Reynolds pitching (I could be mistaken). Green had that odd stance where he’d stick his arms way out in front of him. He also set up about 5 inches from the plate. The ball that hit him was literally above the plate and he was such a petulant shit about it. I think the benches cleared. I’ve never been so mad at a player during a game.
Those numbers were in the ninth inning. Let’s see the rest of the game.
