Vince Coleman was the last guy to steal 100. 109 in 1987. Coleman had 110 in 1985 and 107 in 1986.
How many would Rickey have swiped with bigger bases and limited throws to 1st?
The year he had 130 he was caught 42 times.
He also had an OBP of .398. Ruiz doesn’t get on base nearly that much, but he can pretty much take a bag at will.
In 1986, Coleman had an OBP of .301. He got on base only 201 times and stole 107 bases. That’s taking a bag more than half the times he reached.
There’s a small part of me that feels like beating this team is like kicking a wounded puppy.
