For 150 years the rule was when you came out of the game defensively, the guy who takes your place also takes your place in the batting order. But he’s Shohei Ohtani, so that rule went out the window.

He’s the pitcher and they elected to let him hit and not use a DH. However, they changed the rule for him that said you couldn’t add a DH after the game started. So if he comes out, they’ll elect to go to a DH and Ohtani will be it, even though he’s been removed from the game defensively.
