Yesterday we completed our move to Colorado so with it comes a geographically accurate name change and an updated avatar. I may redo the latter. We’ll see.
Its been quite a process and my wife and I are exhausted. We anticipated moving here in retirement but circumstances dictated that the time was now. Suffice to say that children with special needs still have those needs when they grow into adults and some states do better than others in having people and services available to help. We’re fortunate to have the ability to pick up and move and for that were grateful.
Congratulations! Hope you really like it there. Up until about a year and a half ago, I was giving very serious consideration to moving to Durango. Where did y’all end up?
Castle Rock was the scene of the world’s most ferocious sunburn for 8th-grade me at a track and field meet. Skin was peeling off my shoulders in giant sheets a week later, and I’ve been paying the price for that over the last ten years. Beware of the increased UV intensity at altitude.
Congrats on the move! It is an accomplishment to have it completed. I never thought I’d move from Texas to Ohio, but I did two years ago, and I’m still tired.
One of my sisters is down south near Del Norte and a good friend is between Denver and Fort Collins. They’re both loving Colorado.
Since we’re talking moves, I have some of my news of my own. The good news, depending on who you ask, is ol’ HH gets to keep his job at Big Oil. The bad news, also depending on who you ask, is I will have to move to beautiful Midland, America. Mrs. Hawk and I are undecided on whether to sell our house in Houston, so I’m going to just rent an apartment there, while Mrs Hawk stays in Houston. We have a year to use our house selling benefits, so we’ll probably decide for sure early next year. I’m looking at mid-September to make the move. Some of you old timers may recall I did a similar thing back in 2008-2010. It’s not so bad. We will make it work. There is a lot more going on in Midland today than there was 15 years ago, including the world’s largest Costco that opened just a week ago. So I got that going for me. The Hemingway is still there for my cigar lounging needs, though I will have to find a new gin joint. We all have our challenges in life.
