Lots of options that make sense there. I wouldn’t lose sleep over cutting Shewmake or Allen. Meyers you keep until the trade deadline.
In no sane universe would you keep Dezenzo or Shewmake over Meyers, let alone over Smith.
I am ready to go with Matthews, Cole, Dezenzo and Loperfido. I would rather see these younger players get development time. Surely they could get a couple of decent prospects for Myers even this far from the trade deadline.
Maybe, but not until he plays and shows he’s healthy.

Apparently Hader Pena and Meyers are all playing for the Hooks tonight.
Pena was 1 for 2 with a double. He also reached on an error. There were also some concerning moments:
Peña endured a scary collision in the sixth as he was upended at second base by Angel Ortiz who was approaching the bag following a double. The 2022 ALCS & World Series MVP then exited the game in the home half after being hit by a pitch.
Meyers 0 for 4 with a K. One ball had an exit velo of 101.
Hader pitched in the 6th - 1 IP, 1 H (DB to the #5 hitter - who then collided with Pena), 0 R/ER, 1 K, 0 BB

At least I don’t get mad at the Astros injury reports anymore. The code for us is clear enough now, we’ll be lucky to see Altuve again this season.

I hate that I created the A, P & MS '26 thread. I log on and am excited to see I have a bunch of notifications and then I see it’s just the latest barrage of Astros injury updates in the thread. I expect some fun Astros content to read and instead, I just get PTSD.
