Factually, the use of adverbs is decried by all highbrow commentators on the craft these days, so Vernon’s ahead of the curve here. I mean, maybe this subtle stylistic evolution isn’t immediately obvious in the pages of Rig Count Daily and Polymer World, but it’s happening.
