Aches and Pains 2020

This is why I’m glad they didn’t chase anything at the deadline.

This ain’t our year.

You are right, and it has not been our year since the day JV went down. Farce of a season, and I am not going to waste blood pressure points worrying about it.

Agree 100%

My frustration has been with the fact that we did not address the bullpen (which cost us all four games in Anaheim). The injuries to JV and Yordan, time on the IL for Altuve, Bregman, Springer, and Brantley have been a lot to get over but not the reason for our lack of success. We scored 25 runs in four games in Anaheim. With the exception of Osuna (and I guess you could count Peacock), the injuries aren’t to blame. Smith opting out hurt. But there was not enough bullpen depth to start the season, regardless of injuries to the everyday lineup.

Bullshit.

No doubt the pen has been a problem, but you lost Smith, Peacock, and Pressly for a while, oh, and not to mention your closer Osuna. Losing JV and Urquidy forced guys like James to have to start, so you lost him from his expected role too. A few guys have been bright spots…Paredes and Scrubb have done an admiral job…but the injuries have thrown the whole staff into disarray. I guarantee if you had a healthy JV, McCullers, Smith, Peacock, and Osuna, this weekend would have turned out a whole lot different.

Exactly HH. I should have taken the time to make a well-reasoned response like you did, but I lost whatever little patience I have with that stupid post.

I’m as frustrated as anyone, and have lost blood pressure points, not to mention brain cells, so far. Even in this crazy season I want my team to play well and win. I really want to see guys step up. But the talent is just not there right now.

Someone in the GZ the other day asked ‘how is this team above .500?’

My answer is because there’s still a lot of damn good players here. Remember how they limped into the 2018 postseason? This team also has gutty players.

Talent and guts go a long way. Not far enough to overcome the bullpen supernova, but maybe far enough to qualify for the postseason. And hey, if Bregman and Altuve are healthy, and James gets back, and JV can throw a few effective innings, and … oh goddammit I’m hopeless.

Go Astros! The rest can suck it.

That was me three or four less losses ago. I am mostly disappointed in the two highest paid offensive players. But I’m encouraged by Correa and Tucker exceeding expectations, and Reddick is having a good year, Yuli is Yuli and a jewel, same with Brantley. Machete has been a team MVP. Bregman was starting to take off when he got hurt. Javier and Valdez have been better than hoped for. Greinke is still a master of his craft. The core of this team is special. It’s just been a bad year to try put it all together. I still hope for a nice winning streak but time is running out fast.

Devo and Taylor to IL with elbow soreness. DeJommg and Castellanos activated.

This is absurd.

Holy fuck. This is beyond ridiculous. The Astros should shut the season down.

Even the Spinal Tap drummers think this shit is out of control

Words fail me. I can’t even keep up.

I thought Joe “Momma” Besser was still around.

The goal was to get product out in the market and salvage part of the sports entertainment industry affected by Covid. No one guaranteed nor expected a good product. I believe the delay in training is at fault, but that requires an analysis of the entire league

What a nice sterile way to look at it. Unfortunately these are human beings and careers.

It’s never been more obvious that to MLB the games are simply inventory to deliver to cable companies, without regard to product quality or the health and safety of the labor who provide the product.

What’s amazing to me is not just how many people do or don’t realize that, but how many people simply don’t give a fuck.

Labor and management have been in conflict from the 19th century on. This is a continuation of that process

Bregman activated and batting 2nd in game 1 today.
