These morons fired critical employees at the National Nuclear Security Agency and then tried to un-fire them when it was pointed out that these people were critical employees at the National Nuclear Security Agency.
If you think that is stupid, get this: they don’t know how to reach these people to un-fire them. As is their style, when they fire federal workers, they immediately cut off their access to agency systems, shutting down their email and cutting off their phones. So now the DOGE mincels are emailing workers still employed at the agency asking for information on how to connect with their culled colleagues.
In the meritorious working environment that Trump alleges he is creating by ending DEI, the people who did this would be fired. Of course, with the layers of incompetence on display here it would end up looking like the opening titles from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”.
One other part of the pattern here is very clear: the federal workers being fired are being told it is because of unacceptably poor performance. This is a transparent and hamfisted way of attempting to get around employment laws, that is only going to end up with most if not all of these people winning a settlement against the government for wrongful termination.
In the meantime, their actions will destabilize government workers in every department and at every level. If you were one of the fired NNSA workers, would you go back, or would you be hawking your resume and calling a lawyer? If you still worked at the NNSA, would you be comfortable in your position, or would you be hawking your resume and calling a lawyer?

The reservation system for Yosemite Park has been shut down, with no timetable for it to re-open. DOGE took its sledgehammer to the National Parks Service, so even if you could make a reservation, the showers and toilets wouldn’t be open because there’s no one to clean them.
Back in the mid 90s I spent three nights and 4 days boondocking at Yosemite. I hiked about, got high, and took a shit load of photographs, while my friend climbed cliffs with some climbing club buddies he met up with. What a magnificent beauty of a NP. Anyhow, pissing in the woods is great and shitting in a plastic garbage sack lined 5 gallon paint bucket is not great. it was a shitty shitter to shit upon.
A few hours before we left, the climbers came to camp all all cleaned up with wet hair they were toweling dry. It was then I was informed of the public bathroom just about a half mile away, a short walk and shorter bike ride from our camp.

They’re not cutting “waste, fraud and abuse”, because you cannot figure that out within hours of gaining access to a department’s information systems. He is cancelling spending he doesn’t agree with and the GOP is letting him do it because, for the most part, it’s spending that they don’t agree with.
The problem they have is that judges keep reinstating the spending/staff because the administration - let alone a campaign mega-donor - has no authority to do what they are doing. They are just want to break the federal bureaucracy to the point where court orders are irrelevant because the damage is irredeemable.
