A Republic, If You Can Keep It

Irritating is the new black.

Speaker Johnson has set up his own J6 committee to rebut the findings of the previous committee. He has a problem, though:

And let’s not be mealy-mouthed about this like the press is; those sexually explicit texts sent by GOP staff are rape threats.

Show me your papers!

Who the fuck carries proof of citizenship on them at all times? Why the fuck should people have to carry proof of citizenship on them at all times?

It wouldn’t matter anyway because, during this raid, some of those dragged in by the ICE brown shirts had veteran IDs which ICE just dismissed as fake.

And, yes, while detention without warrant or probable cause is a violation of the 4th Amendment, that’s not going to stop Trump’s stormtroopers from handcuffing you and tossing you into a holding facility until a family member can hire a lawyer to get you out.

Which is the point.

Trump’s EO on gender defines every human being on the planet as female.

Trump’s order says that everyone’s gender is fixed as the gender they had “at conception”. At conception, every embryo is female because the enzymes that trigger the development of a y chromosome aren’t themselves developed until some weeks into gestation.

This also means that every marriage is a same-sex marriage, everyone is only allowed to use the ladies room, and everyone is only allowed to compete in female sports.

It’s a complete circle jerk of idiots listening to idiots and slapping each other on the back for how smart they are. In this case, they are trapped by their own rhetoric - that life, and thus gender, beings at conception - into writing nonsense “law” that does the exact opposite of what they want.

Por ejemplo: some idiot GOP House member has introduced a bill to change the constitution to allow presidents to serve three terms. It’s just performative nonsense, but if it was something that could happen, I don’t think they’ve thought it through. I doubt they would be very happy serving in the minority during Obama’s third term.

In more important news, Trump has effectively shut down the NIH. That’s $10 billion of medical research that now won’t happen. This isn’t speculation based on one of his blithering interviews or an ill-conceived EO, it’s already done.

It also means that information about diseases and such will not be disseminated. So things like the bird flu - which is why no one can buy eggs right now - will not be discussed with the public by the federal government.

This is his plan to avoid the next COVID debacle: make sure no one knows anything except what he tells us.

That was all on Biden, he made the price of eggs go up when Hunter Biden did something or other and it’s a libtard plot…well, y’know, I ain’t too smrt but I still can’t dumb down enough to be a republican.

Maybe it’s the new Nazis repeating the old Nazis’ policies.

Per Wikipedia:
“The Nazi government implemented policies to achieve “nutritional freedom” by discouraging the consumption of certain foods, including eggs. The nutrition policies resulted in a decline in consumption of 46 percent for eggs between 1927 and 1937.”

This reminds me of the videos of Russian soldiers appealing to Putin. If only dear leader knew how bad it was, he would help his loyal supporters.

ICE tried to go into a school in Chicago. The school administrators told them to do one (video in the link).

This is just day five.

FAFO

The sad thing is we have four more years of crap like this.

Speaking of circle jerks…that, and any kind of jerking, may become illegal in Mississippi. State Senator Bradford Blackmon has introduced the “Contraception Begins at Erection Act” bill, making it illegal for a person to “discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo”.

It’s the perfect troll. And stay out of your bunk.

Oh look! Trump was lying his ass off when he said he hadn’t heard of Project 2025.

…and Trump has issued a shit-ton of EOs.

“The bill, which is unlikely to pass”

Hegseth got confirmed as SecDef with a tie-breaking vote from JD Vance (yes, he’s still alive apparently). Hegseth had lost enough Republican senators to fail, but Fetterman crossed the aisle and voted for him.

Why are Democrats doomed always to have a goofy stealth Republican in their midst?

Democrats need to take a page from the Republicans book and block/deny/fillibuster/blue slip everything.
