Word is there was no military support as nobody was notified so the soldiers seen were a small contingent of special forces who were the only ones that knew what was happening. They were sent to arrest opposition politicians and even journalists sooo thatās not going to help Yoonās case.
When I was in graduate school here, one of my professors believed that Koreaās political climate was a glimpse of the US three to five years in the futureā¦last night reminded me of that. The election that gave Yoon the presidency had similar vibes to our recent US election too.
One more funny and relevant detail:
In September the opposition party accused Yoon of planning martial law and an attempted coup. They were called fear mongers and worse. One of his justifications last night was this accusation. So to prove them wrongā¦he declared martial law.

One of my college friends had an annoying tactic in an argument: when backed into a corner he would try to wiggle out by saying āthatās my point exactly!ā
But overall he was a nice guy. Not really right wing dictator material.

Trumpās nominee to run the DEA has dropped out because it sounds like work (Iām not kidding). Trumpās nominee for SecDef is on lettuce watch as Trump reportedly mulls replacing him with DeSantis.
Oh and China has just banned the export to the U.S. of the rare minerals used heavily in tech manufacturing.
So basically heās hitting the ground faceplanting.
