What is the over/under on the average number of nominations for each cabinet position over the next four years? I’m guessing it’s five or six.

He resigned from the current Congress. Will he be sworn into the term he just won? My guess is “no”.
I’m thinking he would make an excellent White House Counsel.
He’s already said that he won’t swear the oath for the 119th Congress, so I’m guessing he’s ginning up a senate run next year. The opposition research ought to make that interesting…
The more I think about this, the more I think Gaetz withdrawing was the intention all along. It quashed the Ethic Report and the stench surrounding his nomination makes other controversial nominees (Hegseth) seem almost palatable by comparison.
Rubio’s seat will open up following his nomination for SoS and DeSantis gets to appoint the interim replacement. What’s the odds that Gaetz dropped out of the AG nomination on the assurance that he’ll get Rubio’s seat?
Regardless of what, if anything, has been promised, there is always the chance that Gaetz will get fucked over because that’s just how things go in TrumpWorld. There’s no reason to assume that anyone is thinking through any of this beyond the next news cycle - at best - which was how Trump 1.0 went.
Yeah, I don’t there there is anything more than 1-D chess being played in this regard. There was no reason to resign because of his nomination - no one else has - so saying it was because of that was about as well disguised as his Venmo payments.
Now we just have to brace ourselves to find out who Trump thought was worse than Gaetz for the nomination…

Exactly. The nomination was an excuse to resign and squash the ethics report without him having to say it. But I’ll be surprised if he’s not nominated to replace Rubio. Whether that’s quid pro quo or just coincident probably doesn’t matter much.
