A Republic, If You Can Keep It

In far less entertaining news, Emil Bove has been confirmed to the federal judiciary (3rd Circuit Court of Appeals) by a vote of 50-49. You’ll remember that Bove was Trump’s defense lawyer and that during his confirmation hearing three different whistleblowers came forward with allegations he told government lawyers they should be ready and willing to ignore court orders.

Bove looks like a cartoon villain and comes as advertised. It’s going to take decades to clean house…assuming we get the chance.

So glad DOGE eliminated all the fraud, waste and abuse.

I’ve seen that film any number of times, but I do not believe any of those times was I particularly, erm, clear headed.

Well, maybe people will start ignoring him. That would be a nice touch.

Oh look…another one.

It’s as if they doth protest too much.

The new Texas election map gerrymanders Jasmine Crockett out of her own district. I’m sure that was an accident…

The silver lining here is that this may be the catalyst for NY and CA to respond in kind and erase the GOP House majority with a pencil.

The other possible outcome is that the Texas GOP fucks itself by further diluting the margin in “safe” districts to flip seats held by Democrats, only to have them all swamped by a wave election.

Fun Fact: The 2018 mid-term election in Trump’s first term is the largest single mid-term beatdown of a party in power in US history.

Here’s your primer on the Epstein prison tape. The important thing here is that the camera angle does not cover a second entrance from where someone could enter Epstein’s cell unseen by this camera.

It doesn’t mean Epstein didn’t kill himself, it just means that the DOJ’s insistence that this video closes the case is utter bollocks.

Lloyd Doggett is on his 4th district (10, 25, 35, & 37). No matter how they try to stack the deck against him, he just keeps winning.

ETA:

Don’t know how the Empire State handles redistricting, but California’s constitution now enshrines the redistricting process to an independent commission. Even if Newsom can get the legislature to draw new maps, they’d still have to go before voters as a ballot measure (assuming the inevitable lawsuits challenging the validity of the process don’t put a stop to everything first).

Yep. That’s the difference between a d/Democratic state and Gilead.

Ellie Mystal explaining perfectly the current state of the union.

The only thing constraining what Trump does today is what he wants to do tomorrow. The only people and institutions allowed to function are the ones Trump needs to help him accomplish his future aims. And the rules and laws do not exist to limit Trump, his officials, or his supporters; they exist to limit the options of people and forces who oppose Trump.

This is how pigfuckers have always viewed laws. They want laws that protect them and bind others. There’s nothing new here other than a bunch of bought and sold Opus Dei freaks on the Supreme Court that are enabling this.

These guys have pissed me off enough that I’m going to take action: every time one of these fucking Cornyn commercials comes on while I’m simply trying to watch a baseball game, he’s getting an email, although not the congratulatory one he’s hoping for.

A tiny bit of Python ought to do it. Packaging it so that I only have to hit an app on my phone would be ideal, but that’s probably impossible without an SDK of some sort, which I don’t really want to get involved with. Maybe I can just set up a little web service on my laptop that does the deed every time I refresh a web page from the browser on my phone?

Do Congressmen even listen to emails? Or is it only phone calls that move the needle?

Well, I usually get a response after a while, so someone/something is doing some work, although the response usually bears only casually on the original topic. Still, I’m hopeful they’re recording a positive-or-negative checkmark for the emails.

Ironically, it was a Republican governor (Arnold) who pushed for the independent commissions.

You can’t convince me we’re not in a cold civil war

I guess he woke up on the wrong side of Dr. Oz’ round table discussion on drinking your own urine (or whatever the fuck quack science he’s pushing currently).

and my PAST supporters have bought into this “bullshit” hook, line, and sinker.

Two things here:

  1. Trump uses the Oxford comma?
  2. The circle always shrinks. If you donned your tin foil hat to go vote for Trump because he was going to release the Epstein files, you’re no longer welcome in MAGA.
