A Republic, If You Can Keep It

I cling to the hope, but the parents are pretty much preparing themselves for the worst.

Marble Falls has not had 10’’ of rain. We’ve had about 4 inches in the past 2 weeks.

They’re saying between Burnet and Marble Falls 8.74. Actually the ancient Indian curse has kept Marble Falls dry but raining all around it.

Reading these posts, I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this angry and sad.

I just saw the river out back rise 6 feet in 20 minutes. Along the Guadalupe and Dry Comal Creek between Canyon Lake and Seguin, we’ve had 5 or more inches of rain today. I dragged my kayak back to the house. The house is 30 feet above where the river is at now, so safe…hopefully.

Like you know, it’s not the rain you get at your place, it’s the rain you get upstream

East of the Colorado got pounded

Yeah, I see 5 dead and 12 missing in Travis and Burnet Counties. This whole thing infuriates me to no end. Almost every one of these deaths were entirely preventable.

I’m not looking for anyone’s head, just acknowledgement that we can do better. Much better. However, that’s not likely to occur.

The entire area in the magenta ring is 10ā€+.

I’m curious, as you’re versed in this stuff. How accurate do you think those radar estimates are?

I don’t know about the other ones posted here but the one I posted is over 99% accurate.

What site is that image from? I want to check the area south of there.

Cosplay Kristi is on the way. No word if she’ll be wearing her ICE uniform or one from the 101st Airborne.

It’s RadarScope. The best radar app out there.

The best public free ā€œsiteā€ is the NOAA MRMS from the National Severe Storms Lab in Norman, OK. It is a multi sensor Precip estimate that takes data from radar, rain gauge mesonets and, increasingly, space-based sensors.

https://mrms.nssl.noaa.gov/qvs/product_viewer/

Click the product on the bottom left (Q3 Multi-Sensor for Precip estimates), the number of hours back you want to go just to the right and then click (touch on mobile) the area you want to zoom in repeatedly until you are zoomed in enough. Here’s the same area using this tool for the last 72 hours. Radarscope is showing more because the event started prior to 72 hours.

She has been diverting FEMA finds to build ā€œAlligator Auschwitzā€, so I wouldn’t expect much from her. Or FEMA, until this craziness is over.

Adorable.

Our Governor and the head of DHS gave a press conference where they spent 90% of the time praising Trump (who did nothing) and the rest of the time telling us to pray. If there was ever a moment that more perfectly encapsulated where we are today I haven’t seen it.

Our state and country is run by ghouls, can’t remember a time in my 54 years living here I have felt less happy about where we are as a nation. It’s sad with nothing to give me hope about the future.
