Yesterday one of my Elon loving clients tried to tell me why the tariffs are a good policy. Halfway through I realized he had no idea what tariffs actually are. This is an executive at a large company with factories in the US. I pointed out that Elon says he hates the tariffs and they’re stupid. His mind didn’t know what to do.

Dow drops over 900 points this morning. After yesterday’s euphoria, presumably the reality set in that the trade war with China is escalating and there is a still a 10% worldwide tariff in place.
Trump claimed he was responsible for an historic day of record-breaking market success yesterday. “Nobody’s ever heard of it”, he boasted. The market promptly tanked again.
