I have to remind myself there is an Anderson Bido and an Anderson Brito in the organization. You obviously covered the former here. The latter was signed out of Venezuela in 2023 as a nineteen year old and could be another “older” Latin American pitcher the Astros turn into a useful MLB asset.
I can’t tell you the number of times I have confused them.
The first few times I was muttering to myself about lazy editors who can’t be bothered to proofread someone’s copy. I eventually figured out there are indeed two separate players.
The Astros also have both a Reylin Perez and a Railin Perez.
Now they’re just screwing with us. Wait until they both get the same injury but different diagnoses.

It’s Rule 5 day again. Baseball America posted a list of 85 players who might get picked. The only Astros prospect on the list is RHP Alimber Santa.
The Astros have an open spot on the 40-man and a tight budget, so if they’re trying to find value in creative ways (like their minor league deals for former prospects and their signing of the guy coming back from Korea), I guess they might actually pop a guy for the bullpen and see if they can work some magic.
I’m wondering if they don’t try to find a back up catcher here. There are some very interesting names - e.g. Daniel Susac, Kevin Parada, Silas Ardoin.
I have heard rumblings they may take a catcher - and also one in the minor league phase
Draft just started. Susac picked 4th by Minnesota. I’ll post if the Astros take or lose anyone in the Major League phase.

Actually has thrown 93 innings in the majors already over 2024-2025. Those innings were not pretty. The Reds picked him up off waivers from the Cardinals earlier in the offseason, then non-tendered him, then just three days ago had signed him to a minor league deal. Heh.
And the MLB phase is now over. Astros did not lose any players.
And the minor league phase is also over. The Astros lost just one player across the entire draft, A-ball RHP Abel Mercedes. They selected Mets AA RHP Trey McLoughlin and Dodgers DSL OF Edwin Sanchez in the minor league rounds.

Welp, so much for my theory. 
Curious to see whether McLoughlin or Sanchez sticks in the org (my initial thought is they’re more roster depth than anything).
Trying to figure out why this kid spent 4 seasons in the DSL.

He walks more than he K’s
He doesn’t hit for average but appears to do damage when he makes contact. (56 Extra base hits out of 132 hits)
I am curious as to why he wasn’t in A ball this year. Maybe it is true you can’t walk your way off the island.

I questioned that as well. Pretty remarkable that a guy can spend four years in the DSL putting up interesting numbers (even if he was fairly old for the level his last two seasons) but never make it to the States.

Could be, although four years feels like a long time to be caught up in visa issues even with this administration.
