2024-25 offseason

He’ll be a lot better than Rizzo. Cashman is so good.

Goldschmidt is the guy that has a lot of similarities to Jose Abreu before Abreu signed with the Astros. His offensive numbers fell off dramatically last season, and he turns 38 in September.

The “experts” are all over Houston for signing the aged Walker. What will they say about NYY?

Who? I’ve watched and read a lot, and everyone has been extremely positive about the signing minus the loss of draft picks.

They’ll say the same thing they say every year…how the Yankees never get any respect from the national media, yet somehow manage to cobble together a scrappy, rag tag bunch of cast offs who nobody thought could win and succeeded beyond anyone’s wildest imagination.

if you ask me, they really miss Jeter.

Who wouldn’t miss the greatest player in the history of the game?

Nope. Keep reading.

Best SS I’ve ever seen

I haven’t read that many writeups and I’m sure there are negative ones (they could sign prime Mickey Mantle and someone would find something to bitch about), but even Keith Law liked this signing for the Astros.

Everyone I heard discuss the signing on MLB radio loved it as well. Think the Astros got a steal with the deal.

I don’t think it’s a steal, but I’m optimistic about it working out.

Josh Naylor to the Dbacks

Immediately followed by Carlos Santana to Cleveland for ~the exact salary they’d have paid Naylor in arbitration. I guess that works for them. Santana was pretty good last year and might (might) still have another season in his bat. And for that risk they’ll get an ok arm and a comp-round draft pick.

Some names on the block according to Passan:

Yastrzemski would be a fine addition imo. Ugly batting average but a consistently solid player. Final arbitration year, projected to earn about $9.5M.

I like Thomas a lot.

I like Thomas as well but Dana has said since beginning of the offseason that he would be on lookout for a left bat. I like Ward out of that group but in division so not sure if that makes it a tougher trade to make.

I’m thinking more and more that the OF is going to be very underwhelming come opening day.

It feels like Dana is comfortable with giving Chas one of the spots to see if he can rebound.

Brown has made some statements that sound like they want to give Dezenzo an opportunity. He has been plaing RF and LF in winter ball.

The leaves 1 opening which is currently Jake’s to lose. At very least he is the primary starter with Trammell also getting some starts.

I am convinced that they want to stay under the CBT and reset the penalties.

If they can trade Pressly, maybe that brings back a Yastrzemski, Mullins, or someone else.

Maybe that trade yields only prospects or just salary relief but that allows them to sign a guy like Winker.

It just feels like Brown is betting on Melton to be ready by the ASB, and 2 of Dezenzo, Chas, Meyers, Trammell, or Leon to take a step up to be legitimate MLB bats. Whitcomb should be in there too but I haven’t heard anything about him all off season.

The good news is by signing Walker, the lineup is better equipped to absorb this.
