2024-25 offseason

Rosenthal says it’s “close” and would be Paredes, Wisneski, and Smith

Wesneski feels like a classic Astros project starter.

Now flip Framber for OF help. Boston?

Wesneski was a spot starter for the last couple years.

Smith is their top prospect.

Wanted Suzuki but didn’t think that would happen once I heard he had a no trade clause yesterday. Happy with Parades and Smith. Wesneski seems more like a depth arm who could start but perhaps they see something they like in him.

Wish King Tuck the best and I’m glad he’s not a Yankee. Astros were never gonna pay the probably close to $350-375 he gonna get. Better to get something rather than just draft pick compensation.

Looking at his savant page now. He has a really good sweeper. Everything else he throws is either below average or he doesn’t throw much. If the Astros can help him improve his fastball to league average level(he throws fast enough, at 94.6, but doesn’t get great spin on it) then he could be a solid rotation piece. I never have any doubts they can do just that.

Agree. He’s probably a 4 or 5 at best but you need solid depth there and all you might have to do is tweak him perhaps. You aren’t developing a guy over a few seasons. He can help now and is controllable.

Smith made it up to AA this year(in his draft year), he’s 21

I didn’t check his stats, but heard he hit over .300 at multiple levels this past season so that’s a good sign.

I think he’s probably a 5 right now but I won’t put a cap on his potential until Josh Miller and co get their hands on him. He was highly thought of just a couple years ago

He did at A and A+ but only 15 and 12 games

Cam Smith is now our #1 prospect, for what that’s worth

Parades can play first, but I feel like this means Bregman will not be back. I wonder what the plan is for first base if that is the case? Carlos Santana is coming off a very good year in Minnesota and would be an upgrade over Singleton without breaking the bank….or we go internal? I don’t see them paying for Walker.

By far.

I’ll miss Tucker, he was fun to watch
