JV’s speech for anyone unfortunate enough to have missed it:
7 ALCS in 12 years.
Teams without 7 ALCS in their history:
Tampa Bay
Minnesota
Cleveland
Chicago
Detroit
Texas
Seattle
Los Angeles
The Brewers were in the AL for 30 years and played in 2 ALCS’s
And yet they remain the most dangerous threat to the Astros’ MLB dominance.
What is the Apollo shirt that comes out of that speech?
I think we can guess.
Someone pointed out that with just one more there would have been seven fucks so let’s hope he’s more on top of things come game one.
Woke up thinking this morning that the first inning DP by Peña wound up saving the game
They smoked 2 balls that inning.
Huge turn of events to just get the one run.
Playoff baseball has a little higher pucker factor…
I had my first fall umpiring assignment last night, which was some poor fucking timing in regards to the game last night.
I had the game streaming on my phone, which was in my backpack clipped to the fence behind me, and ended having to be the score/detail relay person as well as umpiring the games to a bunch of people.
Glad the boys took care of business, but would certainly prefer not to have to relive that experience again in the next round.
But what did your scorecard look like?
Your basic 8x10 card stock.
I was more of a Hoberg than a Miller.
The one game of the three I was behind the plate was an absolutory miserable game, though. Home Team was up by 11 and batting with less than a minute left in the game, and made the last out of the inning with about 30 seconds left. Visitors proceed to score 13 in the top of the next inning, and Home team scores 2 to tie it, so we went to one pitch.
I did get to ring someone up on a called strike three in one pitch, and the Visitors scored 3 and Home mustered nothing. But we finished the game 27 minutes after the allotted end time, which sucked.
Ha! The city is WAY too cheap for card stock. We get envelopes that I can only assume are the same ones that killed Susan on Seinfeld. They are incredibly cheap, flimsy, and basically are made out of the thinnest paper humanly possible.
