2023 ALCS Game 4

Lemmon was an all-time talent. He was great even with a weak script, and transcendent with a good one.

The Aristocrats!

He is one of America’s greatest actors. Equally adept at comedy and drama. Days of Wine and Roses is one of his transcendent moving picture roles.

Since the back injury, including playoffs: .250/.315/.561

To follow up on the line out double play on Semien last night…the OBR defines a “touch” as “to touch a player or umpire is to touch his body or equipment worn by him (but not any jewelry worn by player). Equipment shall be considered worn by player or umpire if it is in contact with the intended place on his person.” So if the player put it there intentionally, it’s considered part of his body and it’s a touch/tag. This includes his uniform, helmet, batting gloves, elbow guard, oven mitt, what have you.

I don’t know, man, I’m the kind of guy who’ll scroll through Netflix for fifteen minutes and give up in disgust. It’s just not a creative form that inspires me as much as it does a lot of other people.

If I’m in the right frame of mind there are certain types of films I can get into. If it’s indie and foreign, that’s a good start. I used to attend the annual film festival in Panama and I’d see as many films as I could, and there was always quite a bit worth knowing about. Plus, I once got to meet Charlie Chaplin’s daughter.

Just to mention it, the film I saw at the festivals I attended that continues to stay with me is called Bonsai. I’ll also mention Satyajit Ray since a friend who’s just back from India and I were just talking about him. If that guy ever made a bad film I haven’t seen it.

So there are films out there that I appreciate. I’m just not going to spend time trying to find them.

Sphinx is quite right, though, I do not care for Frank Zappa. Of course Sphinx is the kind of guy who’ll look you right straight in the eye and proclaim that Bitches Brew is his favorite Miles Davis record, and more than likely he’s telling you the truth.

Yes! It’s no lie, Bitches Brew, is my favorite Miles Davis album. But I like Birth, Blue and Sketches almost as much. I can’t say any one of the four is necessarily better than the other.

Bitches Brew is about my fifth favorite behind Birth, Blue, Sketches, Ahead. But then I also think U2 peaked with The Unforgettable Fire (that was for you, MM), so…

I drove up for game 3, and got to our 3B line seats in time to catch the end of pre-game warmups. Abreu received a full chiropractic treatment disguised as an assisted “stretching routine” right there on the field. They spent a solid 15 minutes adjusting his entire spine.

I suspect that the score disparity throws off their “impact” score, because it sure seemed like the Astros had more egregious strike calls than the Rangers, though they had their share.

Saw this on twitter last night, Jose Abreu now has as many playoff homeruns for the Astros as Bagwell and Biggio combined.
