Second 1st round pick in history for Campbell U.

Mets at #14 go for Jett Williams.

Some of the top-ranked Texas HSers. I doubt the Astros pick any of these guys but I am curious to see where they might go…

  • SS Jett Williams, Rockwall-Heath HS–18.7. 5’8” 175 lbs. May not stick at short. Miss. St commit Mets
  • RHP Cole Phillips, Boerne HS–19.1. TJS in April ‘22. Up to 99. Arkansas commit

Lou Collier’s son goes to Reds at #18.

Cam took steps to graduate early from HS and attend juco.

At 17.6 years old he’s a year younger than all the HSers who have been taken ahead of him.

Six African Americans in first 18 picks.

U of Arizona catcher Daniel Susac to A’s at #19.

Brother Andrew the former MLB catcher.

Braves at #20 go for Illinois HS pitcher Owen Murphy.

#45 on BA draft board and #48 on MLB Pipeline draft board. Law did not have him in his Top 100.

Kiley McDaniel did have him at #27.

Pennsylvania HS SS Cole Young goes to Mariners at #21.

Oregon St pitcher Cooper Hjerpe to Cards at #22.

So the cards caught Hjerpe.

BA’s “buzz” post earlier this evening connected the Astros to Cal OF Dylan Beavers, saying their pick at 28 was his floor.

Yes, make this happen.

Could be the best pick since Seth Beer.

At #23 Blue Jays go with Florida HS pitcher Brandon Barriera. Vandy commit.

So as we get closer to the Astros pick…

Given their strength in PD would not be unhappy to see the Astros pick one of the college pitchers mocked to them (Carson Whisenhunt, Blade Tidwell, Connor Prielipp, Justin Campbell, Landon Sims, Peyton Pallette).

Among position players I tend to like late risers so Clemson 3B Max Wagner or Louisville C Dalton Rushing interest me but some might consider them reaches.

Among those college outfielders (Brock Jones, Dylan Beavers, Sterlin Thompson, Jacob Melton, Drew Gilbert, Jordan Beck) I’m not sure I have a favorite. FWIW, Beavers is the youngest out of that group.

California HS shortstop Mikey Romero taken by the Red Sox at #24 while Yankees go for Vandy outfielder Spencer Jones at #25.

Romero was #54 on the BA draft board and #65 on the MLB Pipeline board.

Illinois HS pitcher Noah Schultz goes to White Sox at #26.

Schultz at #49 on the MLB Pipeline draft board and #51 on the BA board.

Brewers take SS Eric Brown out of Coastal Carolina at #27.

#55 and #63 on the BA and MLB Pipeline draft boards.
