My favorite call of Alvarez’s hr.
“Un bombaso de tres carreras…”
Awesome.
What a game!
TBS, you’re killing Ted Turner with this “technical difficulties every 5 minutes” bullshit. Also, Ted Turner’s somehow not dead.
Well, I’m an idiot. I guess that’s what they play instead of commercials. I’m sorry Ted, I’ll never say anything bad about the Superstation again!
I can’t remember a game where I had zero expectation to win for so long that ended with victory.
I’m still stunned.
And how about Peña’s knock to get to the big man?
What a comeback.
Basically zero expectation of of a win right up until Yordan swung.
Hensley’s AB was clutch.
He battled to a full count before he got plunked.
And Tucker’s grab in the 9th.
And Yordan’s throw home.
And the 6-4-3 in the early going.
They didn’t pitch well but they played well.
Too good not to enshrine here for posterity.
Another “stat” that makes no sense. It was a walk off. There was a 100% chance of winning the game on it. I suppose Alvarez could have missed a base, but I doubt it was a 9% chance.
No, going into the at bat - if you’re down two with two on and two out - you have only a 9% chance of winning. The HR went from 9% to 100%, thus the 91.
I think Yordan killed a family of four in the upper deck.
Cleared on all charges under the precedent of “that was fucking awesome”
It’s true. There have only been three walkoff home runs when trailing in Postseason history (Kirk Gibson, Lenny Dykstra, and Joe Carter), and all were trailing only one run. The Giants were down 4-2 when Bobby Thomson hit the shot heard round the world, but that was technically regular season.
We had no chance until we did. JV stayed in far too long.
Math is hard.
Cue Chevy Chase/Gerald Ford
My friend HH, who happened to be in the seat next to me, said as Yordan came up:
“I would think about walking him. I know he is the winning run, but….”
Two pitches later…BOOM!
That guy should be a big league manager, I tells ya
I was thinking he should have walked him. I would have. Even though AB homered last at bat, I’d still take my chances with him over Yordan. You lose either way.
