2021 MiLB Transactions

The Astros have signed former Horn infielder CJ Hinojosa to a minor league deal. Drafted out of Klein Collins HS by the Astros in the 26th round back in 2012, Hinojosa chose instead to go to the Forty Acres. In 2015 he was drafted by the Giants in the 11th round and signed this time. SF traded him to the Brewers for Erik Kratz in 2019 but Milwaukee subsequently released him in May of last year.

Has spent all or parts of the last 4 seasons in AA where he’s hit .266/.326/.363 with just 14 steals in 26 attempts. His next game at the AAA level will be his first game at the AAA level. After being released, he spent time in the indy Constellation Energy League this past summer with a .222/.306/.302 line in 22 games. A shortstop at UT he’s spent more time at 2B than SS the last 3 seasons in the pros.

Jake Kaplan reporting a couple of players being released today neither of which based on performance is particularly a surprise:

The total cost for signing Sierra was close to $3MM as the tax was in effect during that period.

If you were wondering where the Skeeters’ 32 year old 1B/catcher disappeared to, well naturally like all Cubans he’s headed to south Florida…

(technically north Florida…he was assigned to AAA Jacksonville)
