Jayson Schroeder, Ernesto Jaquez and Angel Macuare on the combined no-no against Kannapolis. Macuare was especially dominant as he want 4 innings and allowed just 1 walk while whiffing 7.
Kannapolis btw is 0-10 on the season.

Pecker pitchers walked 20 tonight but Fayetteville managed to win the game 11-10.
It wasn’t their first night struggling with walks, just the worst. Pecker Pitchers lead the league with 118 walks in 145 1/3 IP (17 games) ! But amazingly they have just a 1.44 WHIP thanks to only giving up 91 hits (league leading .173 batting average against). They have also Kd 193 batters.
Finally found the plate in these last 2 outings with 3 total walks after walking 10 combined in his first 2 appearances of the season (and walking 20 in 33 IP back in 2019).
19 year old Yohander Martinez called up from WPB and in his debut goes 2-3 (the Peckers had only 5 hits on the night). Martinez is not currently on any prospect lists but did hit .313/.439/.383 in the DSL back in 2019.

20 year old lefty Julio Robaina (#32 on FG Astros prospects list and who K’d 57 in 41.2 IP in 2019 in time mostly spent in the GCL/NYPL) has been called up from WPB.
Kannapolis ofc has the worst record in minor league baseball at 4-25. The Peckers predictably have beaten up on them with an 8-3 record after today’s win. So that makes Fayetteville just 4-14 against the rest of the league.
The unbalanced schedule will also skew statistics. The Cannon Ballers easily have the league’s worst pitching staff so some of the numbers for Pecker hitters will probably give an over-optimistic reading of how they are really doing.

SS Cristian Gonzalez ($300K bonus, 2018) and 1B Victor Mascai ($100K bonus, 2017) promoted from the FCL. The 19 year old Gonzalez was hitting .310/.383/.500 in 13 games in Florida while 20 year old Mascai was hitting .225/.311/.425 in 12 games.
So a number of the 2021 draftees were assigned here today–OF Joey Loperfido (7th), OF Michael Sandle (10th), SS Chad Stevens (11th), 2B Kobe Kato (13th), 3B Justin Williams (17th) and 2B Will Wagner. So between these 6 draftees and the 6 NDFA pitchers who went to the FCL, 12 of the 25 2021 draft/NDFA class have now been assigned to clubs (so much for the continuing accuracy of my predictions this year).
Brazilian pitcher Heitor Tokar was promoted from the FCL club.
Offsetting moves:
- Promotions of 3 players to Asheville including Justin Dirden (noted yesterday) and RHP Kyle Gruller
- C Carlos Hurtado being sent back to the FCL club
- Infielders Yohander Martinez and Ronaldo Urdaneta and OF Kenedy Corona were shifted to the development list
2 games and done for the year as Joey Loperfido goes on the 60-day IL.
Another OF done for the year is former 3rd rounder Jordan Brewer as he goes on the 60-day as well. A series of injuries have allowed him to play just 58 games since being drafted in '19.
5th rounder OF Quincy Hamilton assigned to the Peckers and Deylen Miley became the last of the NDFA pitchers to be placed with the FCL club so now 14 of the 25 draftees/signees assigned to a club.
