I went there a hundred times.
Angelo’s Fisherman’s Wharf FTW.

Gaido’s and Christie’s both show up as having had the same address on South Main, 9200, and the same gun tote’n shrimp. So I dunno what’s what.

Man, I have no recollection of a Christie’s on either Post Oak or South Post Oak. Maybe it was gone by the time I started paying attention in the early 70’s.
I bet Gaido’s took over the Christie’s location on Main and Murworth at some point.
I think the putt putt place on Main and Holcomb that austro’s talking about was a mini sort of amusement park with some jinky rides and horses you could also ride. I have a very vague memory of horse rides there when I was two or so.
Kiddie Wonderland.
I also remember a kiddie park on Westheimer called Wee Wild West.
That’s it! I couldn’t get past the Peppermint Park roadblock in my head.
Mrs Hawk has mentioned numerous times that for years her dream in life was to have her birthday party at Peppermint Park. Apparently, that signaled to the world that you were somebody. She finally achieved that around age 7 or so, and I assume that means she is somehow more fulfilled in her life because of it.
I had wanted to have a birthday on the Kitirik kid’s show on channel 13. However, I never could convince my mom and dad that it was a good idea.
I achieved the coveted Peppermint Park birthday party at age six. A real milestone in my personal development.
Anyone been here? If you haven’t already, it might just be too late. You’d probably have more luck getting a reservation at Dorsia.

What should I make as a side with my scallops?
Green beans and something to soak up the butter/garlic runoff.
What should I make as a side with my scallops?
Little late to the party but one word: risotto
Touch of fish sauce in that risotto along with the standard copious amounts of Parmesan and garlic will make that risotto great… and even better with some (fresh) peas for a touch of earth and sweet.
I’d eat that.
When it comes to risotto, copious amounts of saffron are the be all to end all for me. But it’s good no matter how you flavor it.
Oh yes! Saffron works, I was just trying to speak to what I would do with scallops. Saffron would work perfectly well in that scenario as well.
I was looking through our spice drawer and found three jars of turmeric. I can’t ever remember actually using turmeric, but recall that there are supposed to be particular health benefits. Do you think it’s good for you if it just hangs out in your spice drawer?
This is an excellent idea for next time, which now may be sooner than usual
I use turmeric in my tofu scrambles for color. Supposedly it’s good for blood pressure and the like, but mostly it turns everything it touches green.

This may be part of the reason I haven’t used any turmeric.
