I tried making naan bread once…ONCE
Twice, actually. It was inedible both times.

I found a place here that sells naan the size of a giant tortoise (among four thousand other incredible things) for $1. It’s unreal.
Btw, I use King Arthur flour for almost everything I bake (mostly all-purpose and bread flour, but some of the specialty flours, too). Other flours with different protein levels will probably behave differently. I use Bob’s Red Mill for rye flour when I’m making, for example, Swedish Limpa bread.
I’ve been baking my own breads for a while. Coincidently, just today I started a sourdough starter batch. Hopefully it will be ready in a week or two.
The idea was to make an Indian meal completely from raw ingredients. Everything else worked out well, but the naan eluded me, not because I think it’s particularly hard to make, but because I’d never baked anything before.
Or since.
Since I can’t get a bagel, I make this when I get the jones for cream cheese and salmon. It’s stupidly easy.

I don’t think they’ve raised the prices in 20 years.
Let me know how your sourdough turns out. I remember, when I was a kid, my mom and grandmother having starter (from the same batch) living in their pantries. It was so delicious.
We have an Ooni 16 pizza oven that works supremely well. Technically, it belongs to our good friend Victor. But he brought it over a year ago for July 4th and hasn’t come back to pick it up despite my repeated reminders that we still have the oven. I digress.
Easy to use, especially if you have a good wooden peel, and can cook a pizza in under two minutes depending on your flame. We’ve enjoyed every pizza we’ve made using the Ooni. Don’t know if I can ever go back to using a conventional oven.
A fantastic paring for that Stonefire naan is Costco’s 1/4 lb. beef franks. Warmed and soft naan, grilled dog, spicy mustard of your choice. Divine.
Don’t have a Costco within 60 miles (but I sure wish I did, 281 to 71 to Bee Cave is not a fun drive anymore), but every few months when I’m in a hot dog mood, I buy these
eta: wrong store, my Costco is in Georgetown, it’s Whole Foods that’s in Bee Cave
Moi aussi. They’re pretty good.
When was it ever?
1968
In a Dodge Charger.
In my dad’s case it was a 1965 Mustang.
I haven’t been past the Spicewood General Store/Opie’s bbq intersection since before Covid
My dad had a 66 Chevelle. I loved that car. He never drove it to Bee Cave, however.
My brother-in-law bought a restored ‘67 Chevelle at one of those fancy auctions. It’s really quite beautiful, but when you sit down in the front seat your immediate reaction is “Holy shit! This is a death trap!” Talk about spartan.
