What are you eating?

Carnitas mo betta than dry-ass chicken in an enchilada every time. Those look good!

A lazy day of watching hockey and the Astros calls for homemade nachos.

As if I didn’t already regret not being able to meet up with yall at Burnt Bean BBQ…Texas Monthly just named it the best bbq joint in the state

Well, that’s just their opinion. It was pretty good.

I agree. It’s pretty good, but not that good.

Lockhart, Barbs-BQ

Let’s make it happen.

@NeilT…where’s your favorite fly fishing spot in Texas?

Buddy of mine’s kid has just decided that’s his new favorite hobby (playing baseball is still #1), he’s very serious about it. Was wondering about something local-ish (Westlake) before they go on a proper out-of-state trip

We fish mostly on the coast at Port O’Connor, or in bass ponds about an hour from our house. Near Austin Brushy Creek in Round Rock has a great reputation, mostly because Living Waters Fly Shop there is supposed to be extremely accommodating and knowledgeable. If you know anybody with farm ponds with bluegill, that’s a great way to learn. Or just to spend an afternoon.

Brushy Creek – Living Waters Fly Fishing. It sounds like a place that can be fished by a learner without a guide, but a good guide will cut the learning curve. Looking through Living Waters events, they’re doing an introductory class on June 28, but he’d need to register.

Thanks, I hadn’t heard of Living Waters before.

Hell, I may need to take a class or 3 there.

I haven’t been there, but the owner has a great reputation.

Famous but not very good, Cattleman’s Steak House in the Fort Worth Stockyards was recently purchased by Taylor Sheridan’s group.

There was a Cattleman’s Steakhouse in Midland that was there for 60+ years, but it closed during the pandemic. For a time it was one of only three real sit-down restaurants in Midland. I guess it wasn’t related.

There is also a Cattleman’s in OKC that has been around for over 100 years and is Oklahoma longest continuously operated restaurant.

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten there. I’ve eaten at Mickey Mantle’s. It was pretty good.

We ate there once, years ago, and it waa good. I feel like we stopped there partly because it had been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

Went to the omakase at Neo in houston yesterday. Very spendy and absolutely worth it. They have a more casual place called kira in upper kirby and ive already made a reservation.

Puts me in mind of the Wall Street Bar and Grill. Good during the boom; good after the crash.
