I’m a habitual ice-chewer, so I keep a bag around to save my teeth, plus it’s delicious even with icewater
Not the best for cocktails but that’s not what I was really drinking tonight.

Is this literally crushed ice from Sonic drive-in? They sell it by itself? I had no idea.
eta: just checked: none of them namby pamby 2# bags
You can buy a 10lb bag of it for $3 It’s glorious.
If you’re particularly hooked, you can buy that same pebble ice machine that Sonic uses.
It’s the only ice for a proper mai tai. Or many tiki drinks, for that matter. But it’s quite the commitment.
I’m shocked that you don’t make your own ice for your cocktails out of some special water
I like ice cube trays…but she gets mad at me sometimes if I fill them from the sink and not the Brita pitcher
I make my own clear cubes for stirred cocktails, using the water that comes out of my kitchen faucet, specially for me.
I’ve tried to explain how many yard faucets gallons I’ve used in my life…
“that’s ok”
Our fridge has a water dispenser with a filter, and if I’m just drinking water, I’ll usually use that. But for coffee…ice…pshaw…just use the tap water.
I hate the ice my freezer makes. Even filtered it seems to leave some mineral residue. I’ve tried different filters with the same results. It’s only good for icing down beer in coolers. I make my drinking ice from filtered tap water.
Yeah, she doesn’t trust those. So it’s Brita pitchers and ice cube trays all the way down.
I’m with you. I’ve drank more well water out of a garden hose than I have filtered water from a bottle. I’m past the point of no return.
So, last night I doubled up on the Army Navy. The first iteration featured pecan bitters. Worked well, but unsurprisingly highlighted the almond notes in the orgeat. The second was made with Agnostura bitters. This remains my preferred version with the orgeat in more of a supporting role and mellowing the tartness of the lemon juice. That said, this subject warrants more experimentation.
I like Hendrick’s and when Plymouth isn’t available it’s inevitably what I fall back to for a Martini. Fun fact, Plymouth is subtype of London Dry Gin and a category unto itself - i.e. they’re the only distillery who make “Plymouth Gin.” Highly worth picking up a bottle if you enjoy London Dry.
For the price, it’s hard to think of too many other higher quality gins than Ford’s. Many of the bartenders I know prefer it for their well. FWIW.
Is that called a “Marine”?
Well, both the Army and the Navy call Marines beached whales, so… kinda?
Still at the Saucer
True Anomaly Heat Shields Are For Sissies
Outstanding.
That’s a strong drink for Summer, from what I just read about it
Sounds delicious.
True Anomaly and Equal Parts are just crushing it currently.
It’s “thick”, as the kids say. But fucking hell it’s tasty.
Campfire Beer?
I’d drink it around the campfire.
