Montero in to try to close it out
Vazquez with a 2-out flair single
That was rather indifferent of the defense.
Ponche!
That’s a winner!
Ponche!
Ballgame!
Bielak was solid.
Despite spending most of April below .500, this team is 1/3 of the way through the season on a 96 win pace.
Who wins the 1/3 of a hat? Or is it a 1/3 sized hat?
Great win!
That’s a visor.
Jesus Fucking Christ, Jerry Layne is fucking awful.

The calls were brutal but Lane getting into Pena’s face was total bush league. And he had a very very short leash ejecting Cintron.
Pena was great - not taking any bait.
Cintron did his job (& Dusty’s job) taking focus off of Pena.
This was after a very inside pitch was called a strike. 2 pitches after Lane called Altuve out on a pitch very outside (marked as pitch #2)
Umpires need to:
- get calls right as often as possible
- be accountable
- stop initiating confrontations and making themselves the forefront of a game.
The best umpires of my generation’s early MLB fandom walked away from confrontation, not towards them, and they certainly did not initiate them.
“You’d better get going Earl. You’d better get going.”
Salazar has been over matched - a quick, wasted AB until this game & was only mentioned 2x in this thread: a muff and a terrible strike call against him leading off the 7th.
Underlying his 2 K’s, 0 for 3 for the night, he seemed more comfortable at the plate - at least he stayed at the plate longer…
His began to made some noise, barreling FIVE loud FB:
- (93.3 & 92.6) in a 9-pitch AB ending the 2nd
- & (91.6, 91.6, & 92.0) in an 8-pitch AB for the 2nd out in the 4th.
I am pulling for him to make the most of this opportunity.
