What was the poll, I missed it.
I missed it also, the poll.
Gentlemen, a pleasure. God bless and have a wonderful night!
Jimmy Wynn, Cesar Cedeno, Jose Cruz
Which one would be a better addition to the current team?
Cruz edged out Cesar.
Oh, well Cedeno is the easy answer, no offense to the others.
The Cleveland ballpark had a few retired numbers and a ring of honor with more. Took me a bit to figure out their system, and I think this was it.
No appearance by The Troll tonight and a win. Great night in the GZ.
I actually would choose Wynn.
The team needs a CF Instead of LF or RF. Cruz played some CF but was really a corner guy.
That eliminates him.
Cedeno and Wynn were both great CF with Cesar being the superior base stealer and Wynn the more power.
I go with Wynn and his 37HR in the cavernous dome that season. How would that translate in MMP?
The reduction of the importance of SB hurts Cesar.
Besides he and Altuve can high five each other without stretching their shoulders.
What does âpowerâ have to do with âgreat CF?â
Wynn was a corner OF playing CF. He should not be used in the same sentence as Cedeno if you are talking about CF.
Thanks for the response.
Wynn was before my time and I never saw him play. I have also never looks at his fielding results.
When I said both he and Cedeno were great CF, I meant both were great players who played primarily CF.
My apologies
I also recognize how superior Cedeno was as a CF to 99% of MLB players, eventhough I only saw him towards the end.
If Wynn in 67 could not play adequate CF then I would certainly change to Cedeno.
And power has nothing to do with CF, it has to do with power over speed bring a more valuable attribute to a MLB team in 2021.
All this is also with the knowledge that Cruz was my favorite player growing up.
He was adequate. I did not say he was not. You said âgreatâ but never saw him play.
Wynn was a hitter who could catch a fly ball. Cedeno was a great all-around player.
Of the guys inducted last night I think Oswalt or Wagner would be my choice to add to this team. 04-05 Oswalt helps this team more than any of the other 4. Wagner would be my second because you always need bullpen in October. Imagine a back 3 of Graveman/Pressly/Wagner. Itâd be like Lidge/Dotel/Wagner but Dotel also threw 96/97
Thanks.
Again I acknowledge I did not mean he was a great CF. I meant he was a great player who played CF.
I have no idea if he was a great CF and I accept your assessment that he wasnât
I didnât know pitchers were a choiceâŚ
Give me Roy.
You had to watch the poll.
They were not on the poll, I just inserted myself in to answer a question that wasnât asked
The other Cesar (Geronimo) was an excellent CFer.
Nothing against Helms or May and Iâve long since gotten past it, but that was such a horrible trade for the Astros.
Doug Rader disagrees with you. I heard him interviewed long ago when they still played in the Dome, and he said the Reds we got in that trade taught the Astros how to win. He said that trade turned the team into winners.
Here is an article with Rader saying how the trade benefited the Astros.
