No teams get the consideration the Mets and Yankees do. The baseball sun rises, shines, and sets in New York City. It has since the beginning. Just the way it is.
That opening series being cancelled was not a boon to the Mets. It was a boon to the Nationals. The Mets were pretty severely inconvenienced.
