The Ukraine Invasion

Sounds like a good reason to question whether the source is worth listening to.

The objective, other than drawing troops from the Donbas, is still unclear. It is also unclear if it actually has drawn troops from the Donbas. I saw a Ukrainian source claim it has not, at least not yet. Russia has continued to make small, slow, but consistent gains there even during Ukraine’s offensive in Kursk. Russian sources, however, claim significant troop displacements from the Donbas and overall attacks appear to be down.

The map animation is in line with the most optimistic estimates that I’ve seen. I have seen unconfirmed reports of tube artillery being deployed against targets in Kursk city. Belgorod oblast has had an incursion and there are reports of the AFU building some defensive positions.

Fun Fact: Ukraine is the only nation in history to occupy the territory of a nuclear nation.

Haha. Good point.

I think, technically, the Falklands had been decertified from the Kingdom at the time. The islanders were no longer full British citizens, that I know for sure. It’s one of the reasons the Argies thought they could get away with it.

The fatal flaw in their plan was not considering how devastatingly unpopular Tatcher was at that moment. The occupation of the Falklands gave her a cause to rally the public around, and she milked it for all it was worth.

Never waste a crisis.

I do not believe so. Especially if you ask an Argentine

Elvis weighs in about the Falkands conflict (with my second favorite trumpet player Chet Baker on solos).

A top ten anti-war song for sure.

Slava Ukraine!

I have seen suggestions that Ukraine is going to use the territory taken as ransom for the return of what Russia has taken from Ukraine. That seems logical, and well played.

I think it’s mostly a feint to draw Russians away from the frontlines into kill zones but they’re taking the chance to attack staging areas and possibly hold territory to prove a point as secondary objectives. I wouldn’t be surprised if Crimea becomes the focal point in some way. They’ve been shaping that front for awhile now. Maybe the bridge comes down? Maybe they stage an invasion? It seems like anything is possible now.

Seeing reports now that Russia is pulling troops out of Ukraine to defend the homeland.

Seems significant.

I’d be shocked if Ukraine isn’t sending special forces and sleeper agents deep into Russia through this giant hole they punched in the border.

I don’t know if this counts as spying, but they have been posting reviews for Kursk restaurants online.

Trolla Ukraine!

Ukraine has struck a Russian fuel depot and set it on fire. There appears to be a domino effect happening with the burning tanks setting fire to other tanks.

You hate to see it.

The Ukrainians have bracketed a key highway in the Kursk oblast with drones basically destroying any logistics. This war has immensely changed how wars will be fought.

Ukraine attacked Moscow with drone strikes.
