The Ukraine Invasion

There’s some serious ass-kicking going on the right bank of the Dnipro. Villages and towns are falling quickly now. The Russian perimeter around Kherson is shrinking rapidly. Reports are there are no more civilian evacuations from Kherson because no more civilians want to leave. They seem to be waiting for the Ukrainian forces.

So the Russian withdrawal seems to be real and not a feint?

Every indication says so. Major newspapers around the world are reporting it. Also, independent confirmation of locations like Mylove, Chkalove, and Stanislav being liberated. If the Russians are not withdrawing completely from the city, they will have to form lines around it very soon.

Much like Elon’s dad, they should have withdrawn sooner.

God I’m worried Putin is going to create an even bigger catastrophe in that area.

They’re still talking shit about blowing the dam. That would cut Crimea’s water supply, but if they think they’ll lose control of the canal anyway…

I think NATO satellites would see a feint coming a mile away. Also to paraphrase a Ukrainian soldier: We’re lucky they’re so fucking stupid.

It is not yet dawn but there are furious reports from Kherson. The orderly withdrawal has degenerated into a route. There is fighting everywhere on the right bank of the Dnipro, including inside Kherson itself. It seems the Ukrainians are focused on preventing anybody getting across the river. They want to kill or capture all the Russians on the right bank, which may be as high as 20,000.

It’s a Kherson Tale.

Thoughts and prayers, uncle vlad.

This is the right thing to do. Never give a superior (in numbers) adversary time to regroup.

Can you blame them?

Russian defensive lines on the right bank of Dnipro river have collapsed. There’s some “mop up” to be done, but Kherson is liberated.

A glorious and disturbing day as villages celebrate liberation but evidence of monstrous war crimes emerges, particularly in Beryslav, where the Russians operated a “Filtration Center” for Ukrainians.

Slava Ukraini!
Heroiam Slava!

I’ve made some alterations to this much-loved classic. My version is called: “Mr. Putin, Mr. Putin”.

You were a big shot but now you’re slippin’

Ukraine done opened a case of butt-whippin’

Butt-whippin’! Butt-whippin’!

Butt-whippin’! Butt-whippin’!

Butt-whiiippiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin’!!!

Butt-whiiippiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin"!!!

It’s looking like the Ukrainian forces have completed an amphibious landing on the Kinburn Spit which is technically behind the Kherson line and on the Russian held side of the Dnipro River.

The G20 summit is providing some interesting and entertaining tidbits. From Zielinski referring to the summit as the G19 summit repeatedly to this gem from Lavrov, the Russian delegate (Putin chose not to attend): “Later in the day, Mr Lavrov gave a news conference to Russian media, where he blamed Ukraine for hampering settlement with Russia. He accused Ukraine of “categorically refusing negotiations and putting forward conditions that are obviously unrealistic”.”

How is it that you can categorically refuse to negotiate and also put forward negotiated conditions to end hostilities at the same time? The Russians can’t even keep their lies straight in a single sentence.

Excellent final sentence!

Oh boy…

The terrible and utterly predictable road to escalation

I don’t think anything will directly happen from this but keep an eye on the military packages going to Ukraine.

Initial assessment is that it was launched by Ukraine, presumably part of its defense against Russian missile strikes.
