That is SO fucking cool. Thanks for posting that, Ray!
The new live-action Trek shows have been using that too, unofficially calling it “the holodeck”.
Of course, Thunderbirds solved the parallax issue in the 1960s, by rolling the background sky slower than the foreground.
That’s incredible – I had not seen/heard about that.
E3 of The Acolyte gives us the back story of Osha and May. It’s interesting, but slides uncomfortably close to grooming.
Order 66 meets rule 34
The funniest thing about The Boys is just how outrageously unsubtle it is.
ICYMI, people have been panning S4 of The Boys for going woke.
I’m not sure what show they were watching for the first three seasons, but it features a vast corporation that creates “supes” through experimentation on human babies, manufactures fake news stories in which the supes “save” crisis actors and, when that was not enough to get their point across, in S2 they added an actual Nazi - like still alive from WW2 Nazi - and called her “Stormfront”.
I guess the meeting in the writers room was “how much more obvious do we have to be?” and, lo, S4 was born.
S4 Spoilers
At the end of S3, Homelander “shoots” a man on the street in NYC (I didn’t catch the street number), and his fans cheer when he does this. S4 starts with Homelander on trial in a NY state court, where he gets acquitted. He incites a mod to violence outside his trial.
I mean…
I’m sure there are complaints about the prominent penii everywhere in Ep 2. People want boobies.
It took that certain crowd 2-3 full seasons to begin to realize who the obvious bad guys are, and they are not happy about it.
Most disturbing naked fight since Eastern Promises.
Homelander was openly shown to be a psycho within about 20 minutes of S1 E1. It wasn’t subtle. But lots of people misunderstood Starship Troopers, and I imagine the Venn of these demographics is a circle.
Speaking of Viggo, I’m waiting for “A History of Violence” to show up on any of my streaming services. I remember really liking that movie, but I only saw it once and that was many years ago.
“Are we the baddies?”
Possibly my favorite line in the early episodes was at the conspiracy convention [paraphrased]:
“If you add up the numerical value off all the letters in Tom Hanks’s movie titles you get 311, which we all know is the police code for cld prn. It’s simple math, people.”
The Acolyte’s mysterious dark force user has been dubbed by the interwebs as “Smilo Ren”.
You’re welcome.
I prefer “Darth Teeth” myself.
A History of Violence and Eastern, both 5 stars.
I now see why Anthony Starr is getting so much praise for The Boys. His turn in S4E4 is terrifying; just malevolent, stalking and playing with his prey like an evil cat.
