I was assuming that’s who Whitcomb was making room for.
I wonder how long the medical will take for Correa to finalize the deal. That might impact the move.
They haven’t made a swap for swap yet. Urias, Correa or whoever else they add won’t have to be added to the roster for a few days. Either way Whitcomb was going down so this lets him start playing in AAA now rather than tomorrow. They normally wouldn’t announce the option until they add
Right, but they acquired Urias yesterday. They knew they were going to have to send someone down, presumably an infielder. I figured that was the impulse to send Whitcomb down. Now they have to make room for two more players, plus with Pena coming back it makes three.
Modern medical science can do incredible things with prosthetics.
Framber makes a remark about the defense behind him, shit got fixed. Thank you framber.
To be fair, he was talking about OF alignment.
Per Rome
The Astros optioned both Brice Matthews and Jacob Melton to Triple-A Sugar Land. Zack Short was DFAd.
I didn’t see that coming.
Also, Nick Hernandez is coming back up to fill Gusto’s spot
Well, adding Correa, Urias and Sanchez hopefully (knock on wood twice) replenishes the depth and allows Dubon to go back to rolling all over the field and probably makes Short expendable. Plus they also signed the OAK SS and sent him to AAA a week or two back (haven’t looked at how he’s done since we signed him though).
Reinforcements have arrived!
Look to my coming on the first day of August. At dusk, look to Boston
I assumed that was writ when they acquired Urias
Espada said Arrighetti’s next start could be for the Astros
Sounds like there won’t be a roster move because it’s being reported that although Pena is not in the lineup, he is fine. Did some glove work and sprinting earlier today and Espada just wants to get him a day off. I’m going to applaud this decision by Espada. Even if he is good, let’s give it an extra day and make sure. Our lead is shrinking, but I still think there is time to play the Long game.
ETA: looks like Urias will get his first action today. Nice to have some roster depth to go to.
As I get older, I am finding that hamstring issues are not to be trifled with. A cramp, if not managed well, can easily turn into a strain or tear. It is a big warning sign the body is giving.
Matt Kawahara
Per Dana Brown: Isaac Paredes has a severe hamstring strain and was given the choice of surgery or rehab. Paredes chose to rehab instead of having the season ending surgery. He received a PRP injection and will have a long rest period before he could resume activity.
