That said. The Astros clearly have a culture of winning. As I have said before elsewhere here, I think that comes from the top, Jim Crane. But, I see evidence that key contributors are retained that support that culture. Altuve is a perfect example. He makes crazy base running blunders. His pitch selection is sub optimal, but, his quiet and strong leadership in the clubhouse is unmistakable. The Astros hemorrhage talent on the field and in the front office like crazy. That is actually pretty normal for high-performing organizations of any type. But, the few key members that sustain culture are critical. And the Astros appear to be good at 1) keeping those few good components in the short-ish term and 2) passing the baton to the nextgen in the longer term.

Very obvious take here, but maybe we should consider more state of the art x ray imaging machines. The one the Astros have, sounds like it was purchased from Gibson’s back in the day.

Three more would-be Opening Day rotation pieces (Javier, Garcia, France)
Two Opening Day bench pieces (McCormick, Dezenzo)
Two prospects who tried to replace those bench pieces (Melton, Leon)
One bullpen arm (Dubin)
