Rockies at Astros 8-18-20

I was about to type What the fuck are you looking for Straw? for not swinging at a spinning breaking ball in the heart of the plate, but he redeemed himself on the next pitch.

All part of Dusty’s master plan to get Straw to the plate.

7-1 homestand.

Just what the doctor ordered

The MLB game day showed an intentional walk to Straw which was so confusing I came here to make sure. Happy with what actually happened.

The world was definitely off axis there for a few minutes

All this happened while I was outside with my tyrannical dog. Do I have to stay outside the rest of the season?

Jim have you tried the ATT Sportsnet App?

If you have a valid subscription to a TV service that provides it you can watch broadcast on computer/ tablet/ phone.

Stay with me here…if you accept that they’re not going to pitch to Correa, you let them walk him to set up runners at 1B and 2B. You know you’re going to bunt, and if Stubbs doesn’t get the bunt down, or even if Toro is thrown out at 3B on the bunt, then you still have a runner at 2B with one out. If you let Machete hit, and he doesn’t advance the runner, now 1B is open and they either walk Correa or you’re stuck with Mayfield at the plate. Sure, you can give Machete a crack, but I can’t image they’d ever pitch to Correa. Dusty may have used him as a decoy to force Black’s hand. Or is that Trump level genius thinking?

don’t be silly.

Just until the win streak is over.

To close that loop…Black signaled for a defensive change so he could bring an outfielder in for a 5th infielder. Ump misunderstood and thought he was signaling to walk Straw. Black came out and straightened the whole thing out.

This article by McTaggart has a few nice quotes from Dusty and Strom. Different animals, but it ranks up there with Cole vs. Az in 2018 for me.
